Privacy Policy

Last updated: 24 October 2026

This policy explains how personal data of people visiting bestmountain.eu is processed, under Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR).

1. Data controller

Federico Bertaina, email: federicobertaina@gmail.com

2. What data we process, why and for how long

  • Browsing data. Like every website, our servers automatically record IP address, date and time, requested page, browser and operating system. This is needed to run the site and keep it secure (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) and is kept only as long as strictly necessary.
  • Visit statistics (Google Analytics 4). Only if you accept statistics cookies, we measure in aggregate how the site is used: pages viewed, duration, device type, approximate location. Legal basis: consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR). Data is kept for up to 14 months. The service is provided by Google Ireland Limited; data may be transferred outside the European Union, including to the United States, with the safeguards required by the GDPR (for example the Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses). You can withdraw consent at any time with “Manage cookies” at the bottom of every page.
  • Technical cookies. They remember the language you chose and your cookie choice. They do not require your consent. Details are in the Cookie Policy.
  • Email. If you write to me, I use your address and message only to reply (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR), for as long as needed to handle your request.

3. Affiliate links and external sites

The site contains links to third-party services, mainly Booking.com and, in some articles, other affiliate programmes (such as Amazon and Awin). When you click one of these links you leave bestmountain.eu: the destination site processes your data as an independent controller under its own privacy policy. The link contains an affiliate identifier that lets the partner recognise that the visit comes from this site and pay me a commission, at no extra cost to you. I do not receive personal data about you or your bookings.

4. Third-party content and widgets

Some pages show content from external services: Booking.com booking widgets, the weather widget (WeatherWidget.io) and, in some articles, a Google My Maps map. These services may receive your IP address and set their own cookies, so they are loaded only after you consent. Before consent these areas stay empty or show a placeholder; the Booking.com links on the pages still work.

5. Who receives the data

Data is processed by the site’s hosting provider (Hostinger) and, only if you consent, by Google (statistics and maps), Booking.com (booking widgets) and WeatherWidget.io (weather). I do not sell your data and do not share it with anyone else.

6. Your rights

You can ask at any time for access to your data, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing and portability, and you can object to processing, by writing to federicobertaina@gmail.com. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting processing already carried out. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Italian data protection authority (www.garanteprivacy.it) or with the authority in your own country.

You are not required to provide any data to browse the site: if you do not accept cookies, the site works exactly the same, just without the third-party widgets.
